Sustainable Little Tokyo (SLT) invites artists of all artistic disciplines to register for a Community Orientation Retreat for the Windows of Little Bronze Tokyo project, exploring connections between Skid Row and Little Tokyo, particularly within the context of the historical Bronzeville neighborhood and relationships between Black and Asian American communities.

We will spend a half day together building connections among fellow artists and community members, learning about the history and the current needs and hopes of these intersecting neighborhoods, as well as sharing ideas and envisioning arts-based strategies to create greater equity and understanding for people in these communities that we belong to.

Join us for:

  • Coffee and collective art-making
  • Story sharing from community members in Skid Row and Little Tokyo
  • Visits to LA Community Action Network and the Japanese American Community and Cultural Center
  • Reflections about your own artistic practice and your ideas for engaging with these communities
  • A delicious lunch!

Registration is free but required in advance. Deadline to register is May 3rd, 2024.
