Union Church of Los Angeles

Nikkei Progressives, in collaboration with Little Tokyo Service Center and Sustainable Little Tokyo’s Takachizu Community Archive, welcomes you to a day of reflection and learning about the deep histories of community organizing in Little Tokyo.

In celebration of 140 years since the establishment of Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, we will host a walking tour of the neighborhood highlighting sites of resistance and struggle for social justice. After lunch, we will continue with a salon spotlighting “objects of struggle”—items brought by Little Tokyo activists that embody and represent their personal story of involvement in the neighborhood’s rich tapestry of social movement history.

We invite all participants to bring their own objects of struggle and contribute stories to the Takachizu Community Archive.

Schedule:

  • 10:00 am - 11:30 am Walking Tour
  • 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Lunch on your own in Little Tokyo
  • 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm Salon

General tickets are $10 and Student/Senior tickets are $5. RSVP HERE.
